Road Trip Day Three

Overslept again.  Story of my life.  Once again, no worries, as I feel free of limitations and commitments right now anyways.  My friend claims she came into my room early with a keyboard playing a "meow, meow, meow" song...just to gauge my response.  She was slightly amused and disappointed I think when I did nothing but roll over and moan.  I don't remember any of this of course, but her version of the story seems like a good depiction of me.  I crawl out of bed again and sit down to coffee as she and her family are finishing their lunch.  This time her husband, my friend, and myself talk about my adventures, and confident, I start packing for another day on the road.
My friend left me with this wisdom:  "Have a time!"  I said, "Have a time?"
"Yeah.  You don't know what kind of time you'll have, but you'll have a time.  Try to make it a great one!"
Yes!  I'm back on the road....and I'm writing an adventure-some story in this chapter of my life; and I'm having a time!  A great time....
One stop at Target for some last minute items, and I'm back on the road.  At 9pm I pull into the Village Creek State Park.  Not only have I never stayed at a state park, but I'm certain I haven't been camping since I was probably 12 years old.  Following curves through the park I feel excited to see eyes occasionally glowing at me from the surrounding trees.  I find a campsite with a bathroom close by, and finally stop for my first shower of my trip....ewwwww.
While opening my new tent I'm thinking about how it may be smart to get to my next campsite early tomorrow so I'm not setting up a tent by headlight and wondering what kind of wild animals might be watching me through the trees.  More than once I turned and startled myself by seeing a post out of the corner of my eye that looked like it could have been a person.  Each time I smiled because I was as nervous as I was excited.  Finally set up, I climb into my tent so I can finish my night reading "What Life Could Mean to You," by Alfred Adler.  I'll also peruse the brochure that describes the biking trails here at the park.  I feel like my first night of the road trip is officially starting  while I lie here and listen to the sounds of nature, think about the trails I'll be hitting tomorrow, and bask in the freedom of my first night of solitude.
